Karl Bauer (1868-1942)
Karl Konrad Friedrich Bauer (1868–1942), German artist, print-maker and poet. He first studied art at the Gymnasium die Kunstschule in his native town Stuttgart. He then entered the Kunstakademie, Munich, and studied under Professor Wilhelm von Lindenschmit. Karl Bauer's education was concluded in Paris in 1893, at the Academie Julian. In the early years of the twentieth century Bauer returned to Stuttgart and became a leading member of the Secessionist movement. During the Nazi era, Bauer's traditionalist style was acceptable to the regime, and his career continued to be successful.
