Nicola Simbari ( 1927-2012)

Nicola Simbari 

was an Italian painter. Born in San Lucido, Calabria on July 13, 1927, the artist developed his practice in the 1940s after study at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma, and subsequently gained commercial success exhibiting his paintings in London and New York in the 1950s and onwards. This lithograph is signed and dated in pencil lower left and dedicated "To Byron Wrigley, with all my best". Accompanying this print is a Wally Findley Galleries book on Simbari with a note signed by Simbari and dedicated again "Dear Byron all my best wishes for you and Ant" and dated 1973. Byron Wrigley Jr. was the son of Byron Wigley and the grandson of the founder of the Wrigley Chewing Gum Company. In 1964 he studied with Simbari in Rome.
