Stephen Bone (1904 - 1958) 

Stephen Bone was born in London, the son of the artist and etcher Sir Muirhead Bone (1876-1953). He lived in Italy from 1910 to 1912. Educated at Bedales School, he studied at the Slade School of Art from 1922 to 1924 under Henry Tonks, and in 1925 won a gold medal for wood engraving in the International Exhibition in Paris. He also traveled to France, Greece and Scandinavia as well as extensively in Greece, Italy, and the British Isles.
